Be The Monster

Right now we may need an actor or two for our haunt nights. We are mostly family and friends here, but this years haunt is slightly larger than previous years and we can’t grow new haunters fast enough in the laboratory
Contact me at the address below if:
1. You are available October 30th, 6-8 and the 31st 7-9 and at least one day for an hour or so prior to these dates to cover some basic monster scaractor training.
2. You are responsible enough to do what you’re told and be where you commit to be when we need you to be there.
3. You are willing to sign a release form - or your parents if you are under 18. Basically it’s the same thing your school has you sign when you go on a field trip.
4. You can go three hours without needing to leave your post to smoke.
5. You are perfectly willing to work to exhaustion without any compensation (that means no money) except the satisfaction of getting to scare the crap out of people.
6. You can treat our home with the same respect you would treat your own - IE not as your personal playground but rather as serious business. Haunting and scaring people can be inherently dangerous. Getting people to jump and scream in the dark without falling or otherwise hurting themselves is dependent on timing and planning believe it or not and has to be a team effort to make it both safe and fun for everyone.
If you think you’d like to give this a try (yes, I’m talking to the young blokes who knocked on my door this past weekend) then please do contact us at the below email address. You’ll have to type it in yourself - I had to put it in a graphic to avoid SPAM. You can also call my cell phone at (814)931-6390, but don’t be surprised if it takes me a minute or two to catch on to what you want - I have no social graces on the telephone.
Beastly Wishes,
Patrick Nottingham

Old Time Radio October 4th, 2008
Hey folks, Halloween Radio for October 4th, 2008 will have some Old Time Radio shows tonight. Here’s list and description of each show we’ll be transmitting. yes, i know you can’t sit in your car listening all night. With that in mind I’ve provided a player button below each show description for you to play it. Also, if you click the name of the episode you can download it like any other media file.
Old Time Radio should start around 7 PM.
Radio Show - Dark Fantasy - episode title “Seance” - A medium develops the power to call forth not only raps and sounds at her seances, but also the visual image. Now a woman has come to talk to her dead mother. Is this medium for real?

Radio Show - CBS Radio Mystery Theater - episode title “The Oblong Box” - CBS Radio Mystery Theater adaptation of the classic story.
Radio Show - Tales of the Unexpected - episode title “Death Of A Monster” - Supposed true account of a professor who discovers evidence of a modern day giant sloth.

Radio Show - Suspense - episode title “And So Died Riabouchinska” - A Ray Bradbury story about a ventriloquist’s dummy, modeled after a missing woman, that is just a little bit too lifelike.
The Raven’s Barrow

Hey folks, something you may or may not know is that in addition to running the home haunt I also do a Halloween and horror themed blog called The Raven’s Barrow. I talk mostly about Halloween haunts and prop building, but pretty much anything that scares you is fair game. I must warn you that it does get a bit racier from time to time on there than here at the home haunt site where I try to keep it family friendly. Check it out if you’re so inclined and be sure to join my email list. When you hit the Barrow the join up link is on the left hand side of the page.
Cheers,
Patrick.
Worth the Drive - Castle Blood Opens in Beallsville, PA this Weekend

A lot of folks are amazed at the stuff we make for our home haunt Castle Nottingham, but I can assure you there are far more talented folks out there doing some amazing stuff. Castle Blood in Beallsville, PA (just below Pittsburgh) is one such haunt that the Nottingham’s try to visit every year. This is not your average haunted house. No chainsaws in sight. It is more of a theatrical experience where you as the customer get to participate by earning talismans and solving puzzles to get to the end and earn your vampire fangs. Castle Blood is a charity haunt too supporting local children’s charities which makes the attention to detail and work that goes into producing it even more amazing when you think that these folks are volunteering their time.
They open this weekend, and my wife and her brother and I will be there to try and get our fangs. If you have the time and an inclination to drive then do hit Castle Blood this Halloween season. You won’t be disappointed - especially if you like haunt eye candy - there’s plenty of it on their exquisitely decorated sets. Find more at their website - www.CastleBlood.com - and I’ve found a Google street view which I’ve posted below.
