Fun Facts – Bela Lugosi
Here’s something interesting – Bela Lugosi, born October 20th, 1882 (my birthday too!) did not wear fangs in his portrayal of Count Dracula. The 1931 version of “Dracula” was the first talking horror film, and at one point Bela Lugosi’s fan mail was 90% from female fans. Lugosi died on August 16th, 1956 and was buried in his Dracula cape. When Vincent Price, who reported this incident, and Peter Lorre went to view the body, Lorre remarked upon seeing Lugosi in his cape, “Do you think we should drive a stake through his heart just in case?”
