On a case of stolen Kryptonite in the film was written the chemical formula sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide. This just happens to be the same chemical formula for this new mineral – go figure. I’m sure the movie makers thought they were being safe when they used it since it didn’t exist in nature – until now that is. The new mineral does not contain fluorine (which it does in the film) and is white rather than green but, in all other respects, the chemistry matches that for the rock containing kryptonite.
