Ghillie Dhu Is Coming . . . For You

From the History of the Clan Mackenzie p. 175:
There was once a fairy exile who lived in a wood in Gairloch, Ross-shire (Scotland). He was called Gillie Dhu, which means “dark servant”, because he had dark hair and dark eyes. He wore a green garment made of moss and the leaves of trees. Nobody feared him, for he never did any harm.
Ghillie Dhu (Gill-e Doobh) was once a wild and shy spirit of the Birch wood. He was – that is – until his favorite dark spirit, Azrael, Angel of Death and friend to the Faerie Folk from time before man walked the Earth, was stolen away from the fairy mound that the Angel had been sworn to protect. This fairy mound is known to the human world as Dutch Hill in the smallish city of Altoona, PA. You may have heard of it.
In the process of stealing what they thought was merely a Reaper Statue, the thieves fractured the Twilight Ogham Stone. This stone was placed by the evil Magi Baloer when he trapped Azrael in statue form as a seal against any of the Faerie Folk of the Tuatha Dé Danann to keep them from following his escape to what we now now as America. Of course this all happened fourteen centuries before Columbus tread here so naturally the Faerie folk are a bit put out by being trapped in the realm of the Fae. Now they come in search not only for revenge on Baloer but also on those that stole their friend Azrael last October from the doorstep of the house known as Nottingham Manor.
Ghillie Dhu, once a friend to lost children, has become fierce and is spurred on to lead the dark forces of the Fae with a promise to take any that stand in the way of his search for Azrael back to depths of the Land of Faerie to serve as slaves to the Court of the High King and Queen – Oberon, King of Shadows, and Titania his proud and vengeful consort.
Are you to blame? Ghillie Dhu WILL find you. He may even take a few innocent just for good measure.

Whether anyone is coming or not but the artwork is enough to tell and make its work worthy.

My interpretation of the Ghillie Dhu can be viewed at the above website under portfolio section. I feel it has a wild feminine quality and have tried to evoke that in this work
